Applying the Maximum Likelihood Detection to the Position Grid Table

 

The maximum likelihood parameter estimation analysis can be applied to the position grid table as user list.

CREATE/PARFIL EXUL mlima  ROSAT,PSPC
WRITE/PARFIL mlima  USER_LIST gritab.tbl 
COMPUTE/UPPER_LIMITS   mlima

  A parameter file mlima.par is created. The parameter USER_LIST is filled with the value gritab.tbl. The settings for some parameters must be as specified in the Table 5.10: UL_THR, FIT_POSITION, FIT_EXTENT. The parameter CUT_RADIUS may be set to CUT_RADIUS = 1.0 in order to speed up the calculation process. For an explanation of the parameters see section 5.2.15 and 5.2.8.

Note:It also may be recommendable to select the spatial region (box) covered by the field of view of the grid table by the PROJECTION command SELECT/BOX and use this selected event table as INPUT_DATASET. Do not forget to apply the MAKE/PEM command afterwards.
