3.3 The ROSAT Data Sets in EXSAS

 

Reading data in either the RDF format or the former German ROD format will result in the EXSAS tables and images as described below. Inputting data delivered in the US PROS format will produce only the four most important tables (events.tbl, eventrates.tbl, attitude.tbl, and orbit.tbl). Please remember, that data retrieved from the public ROSAT Data Archive (RDA) do presently not contain any information on individual sources (table source.tbl and sourceana.tbl are not produced). Also the calibration data are stored in the archive separately from the individual data sets.

Although the number and the detailed layout of the files for the PSPC and the HRI detector differ, the type of data tables and images is quite similar. A detailed description of the different data products is contained in the appendices D and E. The WFC delivered files are listed in section Testdata Area 2 of appendix F.

Data sets which may be produced presently in EXSAS from an observation with the PSPC detector and HRI detector are listed in Table 3.1 and Table 3.2, respectively.
