Next: Timing Analysis
Up: Spectral Analysis
Previous: 6.5 Instrument Specifics -
During the ROSAT mission each investigator gets an
output of the standard processing of his observation.
Concerning the spectral analysis he can find
general information in the source table
(file name source.tbl) and specific results
in the detailed analysis source table
(file name sourceana.tbl).
Both tables are described in appendix
D
and contain more or less the SASS result,
described in the corresponding section of
THE ROSAT DATA PRODUCTS GUIDE.
- The source table contains two hardness ratios defined as
where A(11-41), B(52-201), C(52-90), and D(91-201)
are counts summed over a fixed number
of pulse height channels given in parenthesis.
If a power law (PL) and/or Raymond-Smith (RS) model
was fitted to the source spectrum in addition
a corresponding reduced (CSQ) is given.
- The detailed analysis of a source delivers beside the
mentioned hardness ratios HR and HR also the
counts (CNT) of the corresponding channel bands
A, B, C, and D together with standard errors (E_CNT).
In case of spectral fitting in addition to the reduced
(CSQ) the fitted parameters NH_PL, NH_RS,
ALPHA, and T_RS with their standard errors E_*
are tabled for a power law (PL) and Raymond-Smith (RS)
model, respectively.
- For each fit performed for a source
four different plots are created:
- source + background spectrum versus energy,
- background spectrum versus energy,
- source spectrum with 1 error and
fitted RS- and PL-spectrum versus energy,
- corresponding residuals.
