Creating and Modifying

 

Parameter files can be created by the command  

 
CREATE/PARFIL task [parfil] [experi] [param] [value] [extended]

 

• task is the analysis task identifier. The presently available tasks for the spatial analysis are :

  SO General parameter file for source detection,

  IM Bin an image for source detection (see CREATE/SOURCE),

  EXDL Source detection (local) (see DETECT/LOCAL),

  EXDB Creation of a background map (see CREATE/BG_IMA),

  EXDM Source detection (using background map) (DETECT/MAP),

  EXSM Merging of source detection tables (see MERGE/SOURCE),

  EXSP Source detection (max likelihood) (see DETECT/MAXLIK),

  EXUL Source detection (upper limits) (see COMPUTE/UPPER),

  HR Hardness ratio (see CALCULATE/HARDNESS_RATIO),

  MLCTS Multi-Gauss source fit (see FIT/MULTI_SOURCE),

  MP Merging of ML source detection tables (see MERGE/ML),

  POLY Overplot polygonal to sky image (see DRAW/COORD),

  CONTOUR Overplot contours to image (see ADD/CONTOUR).

• parfil is the name of the parameter file. If no file extension is specified the extension is set to .par. The default name is depending on the task.
• experi is an experiment identifier. Allowed values are ROSAT,PSPC; ROSAT,HRI; ROSAT,WFC; and ROSAT,SURVEY. The default value is ROSAT,PSPC.  
• param is the optional parameter name, indicating a parameter to be automatically updated or added soon after the parameter file creation.
• value is the value of the parameter. If left empty, and the parameter name (above) was specified, the parameter value is set to an emty string.
• extended is a flag for creation of parameter files with extended parameter list and/or without any auxiliary comment lines. Any input here will activate this option. This feature is not necessary for standard uses.

Parameter files can be modified by the command

WRITE/PARFIL parfil param [value] [occurrence] [ref_param] [mode]

 

• parfil is the name of the parameter file. If no file extension is specified the extension is set to .par.
• param is the parameter name.
• value Any string containing the new parameter value (including, optionally, a comment preceded by a ! sign). If the string contains blanks, it must be enclosed within double quotation marks. If "mode" is set to WRITE (default) the new value is assigned to the specified parameter (if the parameter does not exist, it is added). If "mode" is set to DELETE the value is ignored and the specified parameter is deleted. If "mode" is set to RENAME the specified parameter is renamed to "value".
• occurrence This parameter can be ignored in Spatial analysis tasks, because any parameter is always specified just once.
• ref_param This parameter can be ignored in Spatial analysis tasks, because any parameter is always specified just once.
• mode What to do with the specified parameter: W[rite] (default): set "parameter" value to "value". D[elete]: remove parameter "parameter". R[ename]: rename "parameter" to "value".
