This section contains detailed information on what a typical reduction session with the ROMAFOT package can look like. It describes, in much more detail than in the on--line help files, the functionality of the ROMAFOT commands, in particular how several algorithms work (e.g. the search and fitting algorithms). Also, it shows how the user can shift from the automatic to the interactive mode, and gives suggestions as to what action to take in particular circumstances. The first--time--user is advised to read this documentation before starting; for the more experienced user this section may serve as a trouble shooting section and as a reference.
In the description of the ROMAFOT package below, the schemes in Figure , Figure and Figure will be followed. First, the commands needed to determine the Point Spread Function (PSF) will be described. Thereafter, the interactive and the automatic paths will be explained. Then, the procedure to determine the photometric accuracy and the degree of completeness will be illustrated. Finally, an efficient path to measure several frames of the same field is presented. For each of the steps described in the documentation the command and the command syntax are given.
