As described in Chapter , the MIDAS data structures include frames, masks, tables, catalogues, descriptors, and keywords. With the exception of the masks and catalogues, the plot package is able to plot the data stored in these structures. Data can be plotted with PLOT/ as well as with OVERPLOT/ commands. In the first case, MIDAS will start a complete new plot ( e.g. a graphic terminal screen will be erased and old plotfiles will be deleted); in the latter one MIDAS will extend the existing plot information without erasing the results of previous plot commands.
In addition of the plot commands that enable the user to plot data command are available to produce coordinate box(es) within subsequently data can be overplotted, and commands to add text, symbols, and (grid) lines. An overview of the commands is given below.
