The ROSAT Result Archive is expected to open towards the end of 1994. It will contain selected results and data sets taken from the Standard Processing, both for the observed fields and the individual sources detected therein. To ensure a homogeneous quality throughout the archive, teams of experts will thoroughly inspect all data entered. This is necessary, because the Standard Processing, although quite sophisticated in its analysis, is a fully automated process that may have difficulties in cases of unusual data, e.g. in extended emission regions.
The database will offer a unique possibility to access the major results of all ROSAT pointings in an easy way. The best way to access the database will be through the 'browse' utility (EXOSAT Database or HEASARC system), installed at GSFC, MPE and at UL. It provides an astronomer-friendly environment to retrieve and select X-ray and other astronomical data. Included are utilities to compare and, to some extent even analyze retrieved data.
The community will be notified as soon as the RRA will become available.
